Money decisions deserve accurate information. This policy describes how the FairRate Today Editorial Team creates and maintains every page on this site.
Our standards
- Accuracy first. Facts, figures and product details are checked against primary sources: the provider’s own disclosures, government and regulatory data, or published research. We link or name the source where a figure is used.
- Plain language. We explain terms such as APR, origination fee, deductible and liability limits in everyday words and show worked examples with the math.
- Balance. We describe the downsides of every product, including when a personal loan or a particular coverage is not the right choice.
- No pressure. We never use false urgency, guaranteed-approval claims or “no credit check” promises.
Independence from advertisers
FairRate Today earns money from affiliate partnerships and advertising (see our Advertiser Disclosure). Our writers and editors decide what to cover and how to rate products using our published Methodology. Partners cannot pay for a higher rating, review or edit our articles before publication, or ask us to remove negative information.
How a page is made
- Research: we identify what readers need to know and collect current data from primary sources.
- Writing: a writer drafts the guide following this policy and our style rules.
- Editing and fact-check: an editor checks every rate, fee, number and claim against its source and recalculates every example.
- Compliance review: pages that mention loan offers must show APR ranges, repayment terms and a representative example of total cost, and must not promote loans with an APR of 36% or higher or terms of 60 days or less.
- Updating: pages show their last-updated date. Rate tables are re-verified at least every 30 days.
Use of technology
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, to help research, outline or check our work. Every page is reviewed and edited by a person, and the facts in it are verified against sources before publication. We are responsible for everything we publish.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page link and the correction. We review reports promptly and update the page and its “Updated” date when a correction is made.
